What is Perspective

Perspective is the general concept that things appear smaller the further they are from the viewer. The prototypical example is a railroad track where the rails converge in the distance.

In the simplest model of projection lines converge on a single point on the horizon. The railroad tracks, as well as the road parallel to it, converge to one point on the horizon. The point at which these parallel lines converge is the vanishing point.
